DAKIN TAYLOR REED
I grew up in a house where there was always something on the calendar.
A party, a non-profit event, someone's engagement, a seated family dinner at home for forty. My parents included my sister and me in everything they did, and my family hosted constantly, refining the process over generations.
That's the main part of the story, the reason for the company. I went to Ole Miss, worked a restaurant group on the Square running rehearsal dinners and cocktail parties, spent years as Wedding Director at The Mill at Plein Air in Oxford, Mississippi, and learned every unglamorous thing a wedding requires before I ever called myself a designer. Taylored Well came after all of that, which is what makes my company unique.
The rest of my education happened in other countries — 32 of them so far, and counting. Travel is my greatest source of inspiration for our designs: the hand placed mosaics at a shop in Lisbon, the way a hotel in Barcelona greets their guests, the way a restaurant in India plates their food. I bring it all home, through writings and photos, and mix it with what Mississippi already does so well, hospitality and hosting.
When I planned my own wedding, my guiding words were Worldly Southern Impressionism. A Monet, essentially, in a house with old oriental rugs, linen furniture and wildflowers on every surface. Worldly Southern Impressionism is our guiding philosophy for any Taylored Well Event, mixed with our bride’s own personalities, ideas, and memories.

Our team cares about the linens and we care about whether your mother remembers to eat at the reception. Both are equally important to us.
